Hola!

Valparaíso, que bueno.
I have to read in my diary to find out what date I got here, because it has been a while now. Autumn has kicked in here, but in the best way imaginable. Mornings start cold, but the sun helps to change the day completely in the afternoon, it´s hot, clearblue skies, the Ocean is next to us, the stars are wonderful at night, and the moon.... Has been incredible the past days, so much light, it´s amazing!

The past 2 weeks have been completely different from all the months before. Getting up early, for Spanish classes. I was lucky to be able to go into town with the kids every morning, who of course have to go to school! So I was not alone in my early mornings, Antonio works everyday, Fresa drives us into town, and works most days of the week. And what a way to start the day. Waking up between the trees, the Ocean in the distance, the sun rising from behind the hill. Pan con Palta for breakfast (Bread with Avocado!). A cup of tea, and off we go! We drive up the hill, and go down on the other side, where Valparaiso starts. On our way to Avenida Alemaña the whole city is to our right. The bay with rising clouds, the whole city covered in morning mist. It´s an insane view, everyday again, always a little bit different from the day before, more clouds, more sun, but always beautiful.
The kids go first because their school is closeby on Cerro Alegre. Then Fresa and me head downtown, I walk to Plaza Sotomayor to Natalislang, en Fresa goes on to Viña del Mar to the school where she works.

The best 3 hours of the day. No English.
Gisselle my dropdeadgorgeous teacher. And a great one, speaking the most clear Castellano possible, and helping us poor students tweaking our little knowledge piece by piece.
Far from fluent, I finally have some vocabulary going, so when I meet people who only speak Spanish I am not completely lost anymore. The kids are a good help too, because they speak short sentences, mostly words I know by now. And no English to rescue me of course, which is the best.

This weekend everything changed, again.
My classes are over, the last one was friday. My plan was to leave to the North right now, but I finally got a hold of my travelagent last week.
The same one that told me in December I would not be able to change my return flight (from Lima, Peru). But also the same one who told me I could try and call the airline myself to see what the possibilities would be.
So I called Iberia wednesday. They told me to call British Airways. Thursday I reached BA and they told me, no, call your travelagent...
Friday afternoon I contacted D-reizen Bilderdijkstraat, and after a 15 minute-wait for them to find out what could be done.... I got the best answer possible.

For a small fee I can totally reschedule my return-flight. Country/City/Date, all is possible.
I might not be back in Amsterdam in july.
I might not be back in Amsterdam at all?
No I am kidding! But I will stay longer, probably. Because right now I would have an awful short amount of time to make it all the way to the beaches of Colombia!

This week I will search every corner of Valparaíso, to find out if I could work here, in a bar, in a hostel, somewhere!
My stay with Fresa and Antonio and the family has been incredibly pleasant, and I don´t feel like leaving at all. As long as Autumn here is as beautiful as it has been the past couple of weeks, it´s not something to walk away from easily.

More free time for me again means I will try to update this space, when I decide what to do from here on out.
Right now it depends on some circumstances which I don´t all control by myself.
Last week I uploaded some of my phone´s pictures, check them out!
I will buy new batteries for the camera today, so sometime soon I should have a lot more pictures online from the April Family Adventures.

Besos,

F
