Carnaval!
After my ridiculous busride I finally arrived thursday afternoon. 30hours was a bit much but I made it. Then came the interesting part of figuring out the local Rio bussystem. They have between 300 and 400 lines in this town, so you really want to be in the right one.
Of course I had no direct connection so after I found the first bus I arrived in the center, and had to look for another bus, taking me up to Santa Teresa, Rose House hostel.
This part took me a while. 20 kilos on my back, some in front, and a bottle of water, it was interesting walking around in 35 degree Rio midday sun. But after a while I found my bus, of course the driver didn't even know the street I wanted to get out, but I figured it out by myself.
Showered and fresh I went on more buses to find Lucas on Praia Vermelha. A very pretty beach just north of the famous Copacabana beaches. Here it was really relaxed, lot of families, beautiful view of the 'Sugarloaf Mountain'. Great to see Lucas right here in the middle of all the Carioca's.
Sunday afternoon now. The last 48 hours have been pretty much a big blur of Samba, Cervesa, and Caipirinha. 2 more days ahead so I will give a more in depth review soon, now there is our pool to get to, I just wanted to let you know what is going on. Lucas and me are doing very well, it's completely amazing how they never seem to stop around here.
